Maximization of the commercial value of the products of scots pine (pinus sylvestris) logs
Abstract
This study deals with the production and distribution of Scots pine products from the Elatia forest in the Drama Forest District and its main objective is to approach and respond to two basic questions: (a) Does the formation of Scots pine tree loss in Elatia, Drama, meet the needs of the timber market with respect to the type and quality of products produced? and (b) Is there any room for improvement in the Scots pine products so that their commercial value is maximised? The following have been planned and researched in order to realise the aforementioned objective: ♦ Recording and analysis of the production of Scots pine products during the period 1977 - 1996. ♦ Recording and analysis of the distribution of Scots pine products during the period 1977 - 1991. ♦ Investigating the progress of the commercial value of Scots pine products. ♦ Market research on merchants and retailers of Scots pine products by means of personal interviews. ♦ Construction of forest yield models (product categ ...
